On June 2nd, I visited Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, an international interior exhibition in Tokyo.
Lots of interiors, furniture, gift, and handcrafts companies took part in the exhibition.

Actually we think that the hanger has a potential to become an interior, not just display goods or laundry tools. Then to research our possibility I visited there.
I found some impressive booths.
1)Suwada
They produce nail clippers. But see their booth. Can you imagine that their main product is a nail clipper? Their booth was really cool and special atmosphere.
Their products are made in Sanjo city, Niigata prefecture, well known as cutleries production area.
I got interested in their functional and beautiful design.
2)Karimoku
Oh, I found hangers! They are made by Karimoku, a wooden furniture product company.
All NAKATA HANGER is made of beech, but they are made of oak, cork tree, etc. They have different wood grains and color from beech.
Karimoku is trying to reduce unused materials, so it’s one of these actions.
Both of them have enough skill and good design not for domestic customers but international ones. They empowered me to make more effort to expand NAKATA HANGER’s world.
I found many other interesting Japan made products booths. It was a very exciting time. Also, I noticed that I went to an exhibition place where so many people came in a long time.
That’s because due to COVID-19, countless events had been forced to cancel.
So I hope every company and people regain their power little by little and enjoy working without any hesitation.

6月2日に東京ビッグサイトで開催された「インテリアライフスタイルTOKYO」というインテリアの国際見本市を初めて視察してきました。
インテリア家具、ギフト、工芸品といった様々なジャンルのメーカーが参加している見本市です。

ハンガーと聞くと一般的には洗濯物を干したり、クローゼットで使う、日用品というイメージが強いと思いますが、
私達が作るハンガーはインテリアの一部にもなりうるポテンシャルを秘めているのではないかと考えています。
こうしたインテリアとしての可能性を探るべく、この見本市に足を運んでみました。
様々なブースを見た中で、特に印象に残った２社のブースを紹介します。
1)諏訪田製作所
諏訪田製作所は爪切りを製造している新潟県のメーカーなのですが、この重厚感溢れるブースで展示されているものが爪切りであると想像できるでしょうか？
他のブースとは異なる存在感を放っていたように感じました。
小さな爪切りがもつ機能的且つ美しいデザインに思わず見惚れてしまいました。切れ味もきっと素晴らしいに違いありません。
2)カリモク
なんと、カリモクのブースでハンガーを見つけました。ハンガーを見ると思わず反応してしまうのはハンガーメーカーに勤める人間の性でしょうか。
カリモクは木製家具メーカーとして有名ですが、このハンガーは国産の様々な未利用材で製作されているようです。
NAKATA HANGERのハンガーは全てブナ材を使用していますが、これらのハンガーはナラやアサダ等が使用されていました。
ブナとはまた違った木の色や木目を楽しむことができました。
カリモクではこうした未利用材と呼ばれる、通常では家具製作には使用されない木材の有効活用の取り組みに力を入れているようです。
今回の展示会、とても良いブースに立ち寄ることができました。
両社とも日本国内だけでなく、海外にも通用する素晴らしい商品を作る技術力があると感じます。私たちNAKATA HANGERのハンガーも
もっと世界中の沢山の人に届けていけるように頑張ろうと励みにもなりました。
振り返ると、こうした見本市のような沢山の企業が一同に集まる場所を訪れるのは随分久しぶりのことだと気が付きました。
コロナ禍により、多くのイベントや催しが中止や延期を余儀なくされていたので、今回の見本市にどこか懐かしさのようなものを感じました。
一日でも早く、また沢山の人や企業が躊躇いなく集まり、活気が戻ってくることを願わずにはいられません。
